The tax filing is much easier today, compared to the paper world from 10 years ago. eFiling a return and representing a client is so much easier today. There are some interesting functions provided by CRA and our software that you might not know about.
AFMR (Auto-fill my return)
This feature allows a tax preparer to download slips and other information from the CRA server to our software. Before using the AFR feature of our software, you must:
- Register and Represent a Client, and have a RepID, GroupID or business number.
- Make sure you have a valid authorization or Form T1013, Authorizing or Cancelling a Representative.

RC59 Business Consent Form – Get Authorization in 5 days or Less
Currently, authorizing to represent your client’s business account (RC59) can be done through the CRA web portal. To do this, you can choose the following 2 options:
Log in to Represent a Client. From the Welcome page, select “Review and update.” At the bottom of the “Manage clients” tab, select “Authorization request” and follow the instructions. Print the signature page for your client to sign. Scan and send the signed copy of the signature page to the CRA, using Submit documents.
Give your client your Rep ID, Group ID or Business number, and ask them to log in to My Business Account. Then, they will need to select “Representatives” under “Manage,” from the menu on the left of the Welcome page. Once they complete the authorization, it takes effect immediately, and you’ll have access to their CRA accounts.
In the near future, RC59 will be able to be submitted through EFILE software. We are looking forward to that.
PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) for Payment of Current Year Owing of Taxes – Coming Soon
Presently, if a taxpayer owes money, they are being given a paper remittance voucher that needs to be filed by the taxpayer and taken to a financial institution for paying the amount owed. Alternatively, they can pay the dues through their online banking system.
The new initiative allows the tax preparer to transmit their financial institution information for the amount owed, upon filing of the tax return.
