At Intuit®, we love accounting professionals. We value our relationships with our accounting partners and we also know your time is important, so when it came to coming up with a way to celebrate some of our accountants in California, we fixed on the idea of helping you clear your plate. Literally. The result? ASSET, a QuickBooks Kitchen – an exclusive experience for some of our accounting partners in San Francisco and Los Angeles … and the world’s first accountant-only restaurant!
For two weeks in August, ASSET hosted six seatings in each city for some of our accounting partners. The intimate events brought small groups of accountants together with Intuit staffers for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience. Drawing inspiration from the time-saving benefits of QuickBooks® Online Accountant, each course at ASSET tied to a feature that helps accountants clear their plate. To plan these events, we partnered with small businesses, including Bompas & Parr, The Fig House, Terra Gallery, Coast Graphic Services and roomforty, all of which run on QuickBooks.
So, what happens when QuickBooks takes to the kitchen? Here’s a peek behind the scenes at ASSET.
To break the ice upon arrival, everyone was invited to take a short, interactive quiz on tablets to determine their personality type. Bartenders stood ready to mix the perfect cocktail matched to each type. The room filled with different types and personalized aperitifs – “Entrepreneurs” sipped Pineapple Potions, while “Consuls” enjoyed Non-Partisan Gin Juleps.
While attendees mingled and enjoyed “growing” canapés – a nod to the importance of continually nurturing your practice – they had the chance to get an actual taste of the cloud by stepping into “The Cloud Cocktail,” a small, enclosed room filled with gin-infused vapor – ponchos optional!
Over dinner, the tables swapped details about their firms, clients, favorite apps and best practices, while getting to know peers and Intuit employees on a more personal level. The wait staff wowed with meticulous presentation to bring out the appetizers and entrées, which included revealing side dishes beneath smoking cloches.
The dessert course stole the show. Instantaneous Ice Cream – the resounding crowd favorite – relied on collaboration, creativity and a little behind-the-scenes magic, in the form of liquid nitrogen, to make a custom dish. The tables split into smaller groups, sniffed a variety of flavor options – ranging from smoked bacon to basil to black truffle – in test tubes. After settling on two as a team, the chefs whipped up flavorful frozen treats in an instant.
